About Ylläs
Ylläs area is located in the northern western side of Finnish Lapland. It is surrounded by seven fells, the well-known Tunturi, that make it a Roma of the Northern with its natural architecture. The highest one, 718 m, named Yllästunturi is source of call for the sporting spirits who love every kind of skiing. On its northern side there is Äkäslompolo and on the other one Ylläsjärvi, two Lappish villages that still give the original Sami atmosphere through their architectural shapes in a tigh link to nature.
In Ylläs you can experience the four life’s elements in an unique combination. In summer the fresh breezes predict the up-coming ruskatime. In the centre of Kota – the famous Lappish Tepee – the fire burns during the long Northern Lights’ period. Water models its state in sauna’s steam, in ice and snow. The forests of conifers hide a treasure of berries and mushrooms and what’s more? You can easy meet the reindeers guiding you along the numerous marked routes, which lead to discover a wild and untouched nature.
